My face book friend Carmen Chilson wrote of the horrific ordeal their family has gone through with a loved one getting health care in his last months. Then the spouse faced severe loss of income when the costs of living did not go down parallel to the cost of living.. This affects everyone , not just those at the poverty level.
THE CRITERIA HAS NOT CHANGED IN 50 YEARS ACCORDING TO THIS ARTICLE. I HAD THOUGHT IT WAS 40 YEARS.
Think back to 50 years ago and what people had to spend money on to sustain basic life and look at what we have to spend money on today. even considering that money does not buy as much today of the same items, the items are different.
Utility costs a have skyrocketed and water bills have skyrocketed. More than any cost of living increase in our incomes. Add to that all the costs tacked onto our water bills like a percentage for sewage treatment and we even have the town animal shelter on ours plus trash pick up and that costs money to take to a well regulated site now to be processed in manners safer for all.. All important items but its different world than when the town or city dumped their refuge into the river for the next town or city down stream to deal with, Thankfully we do have some rules and laws today to stop bad sanitation and keep our environment somewhat clean EVEN THOUGH SOME THINK ITS NOT ENOUGH. We used to have basically NOTHING.
Food comes form all places of the world and we have a lot different things to eat, but some is much higher do to that an all the rules and efforts to make sure its safe. It a miracle we aren't all more sick from our food considering where its all been. IN MOST WAYS WE HAVE WORSE THINGS TO EAT FROM ALL OF THIS AS THE NUTRITION LEVEL HAS OFTEN DECREASED AND BUYING ORGANIC IS VERY HIGH COST.
We don't even eat the same kinds of things today. And microwave ovens did not exist back 50 years ago. HOW DID WE EXIST WITHOUT THEM?
AND OUR CRITIERIA FOR LIVING COSTS BASED ON A WORLD 50 YEARS AGO?
Car cost a lot more, but we no longer enter real death traps when driving or riding in one as we used to as safety features have given us life. THAT IS A PRECIOUS LIFE COMMODITY. But more expensive as we sit down in a machine that dos so many things for us as we travel in comfort to where ever we wish to go. with better mileage for most.
Some costs are less. Long distance telephone calls is often a flat monthly rate or minimal over the net where it used to be extremely expensive to call a loved one hundreds of mile we can be in constant contact by e mail or SKYPE as we do not lose contact with the every day lives of our loved ones so many miles away..
But THE INTERNET IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO SURVIVE TODAY. One must monitor their bank accounts and pay bills online and even to shop and compare prices.. Much due to higher costs of mailing a letter or package plus hackers that exist all around us just waiting to get into steal our few dollars in our accounts and on our plastic credit cards. which we didn't even have those 50 years ago. we had to go to the bank and write a check to get money and it took time from our lives so we reduce costs in exchange for an Internet bill but have gained freedom of time that is not added into any criteria which too often equates into a need for a second job to pay for all the new expenses that did not exist 50 years go.
GASOLINE IS NO LONGER 19 CENTS A GALLON. That has gone up more than any rise in income.
I REMEMBER WHEN DOYLE AND I WERE DATING BACK ON HIGH SCHOOL AND WE WANTED TO GO SOMEWHERE AND BOTH OF US WERE SHORT ON CASH AND BOTH OF US LOOKED AT WHAT WE HAD AND POOLED OUR RESOURCES TO PAY THE 19 CENTS PER GALLON TO GET THERE AND BACK.
Somehow we have always been partners since soon after we met over 51 years ago and married 50 years lost 1/26/14.
In going through old records of my parents I was shocked at how little they paid for auto and home owner insurances etc.
Many of thee bills do not go down when one spouse goes on to heaven and the other partner faces often very reduced income to live on.
Then finds that all those govt programs have unrealistic guidelines that are 50 years out of date to decide what help might be available that society has agreed to share with those in special need after years of raising families and working, etc. or the least fortunate among us that need our help and our basic humanness agrees to help out others through our social programs.
There is no reason we do not use our new IT advances and get all of this automated in to realistic cost adjustments yearly or bi yearly.
And there has been little realistic changes in those over the years as societies needs change, ether.
THAT IS NOT CUTTING HELP, BUT PASSING HELP IN PROGRAMS THAT EMPOWER INDEPENDECNE AND DOES NOT ENSLAVE US EVEN MORE WHEN WE FIND OURSELVES IN HAVING TO ASK FOR HELP TO SURVIVE.
In our changing world where loyalty in companies does not exist as it used to as companies get bought and sold and even govts find work contracted out to this or that company, the idea of TEAMWORK AND LOYALTY has been too often replaced by 'cut throat competition and dog eat dog mentalities' and we all suffer as we become less than we are to be as part of humanity when this occurs. MY APOLOGIES TO THE CANINE MEMBERS AS WE CONSIDER YOU BETTER LOVED MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILIES, THEN THAT PHRASE WOULD GIVE.
Yesterday the mail came and Federal Blue Cross Blue shield spent money to let me know about Part D Medicare and FEHB programs. IT WAS A LIE WHEN THEY SAY THERE IS A COORDINATION PLAN AND NO ONE KNOWS AFTER 8 YEARS WHAT IT IS AND NO ONE IS GETTING IT OR KNOWS WHERE TO SEND THE COPIES OF WHAT WAS PAID IN TO GET THE COPAYS PAID EVEN AS A CONDITIONAL PAYMENT. WHERE MEDICARE WAS DUMPED ON BY ALL THE PARTNERS OF MEDICARE AND NOTHING EVER COLLECTED BACK.
So I started out making some calls to Senate and House committee members to day and ran into some real' nervousness with the DEMOCRATS IN THE US SENATE.
Senator Harken's office in his last months in office did ask me what laws I wanted passed and I gave the two main ones needed for the safety and right of life of all of us.
Get all govt officials and govt contractors under the HIPPPAA law and allow money to be spent on criminal investigations of govt contractors. The first allows errors in that national health insurance data base which is used for ones medical history for treatment especially in a busy emergency room and is a govt contract under Emblem Health International to get corrected. Ther is about 4 others patents records co mingled with mine, plus one of the main Medicare claims processors was altering diagnosis codes to circumvent workers comp having to be billed in order to steal from Medicare. Even a typo can cost a life. Patients have no right to get copy, nor anyone to correct it. For 8 years Congress has had a study showing so many precious lives lost as doctors relied on it and then got sued for what should have been pretty reliable plus medical research is skewed from these errors also WE ALL SUFFER FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO CORRECT THE MOST BASIC INOF ABOUT EACH OF US.
This should be what is on file with other doctor or hospital and its often not. As all protections and privacy of our reocrds ends as soon as it leaves the doctor's or hospital etc.jurisdiction.
I have come close to dying twice over the mess on my records, Yet I HAVE NO RIGHT TO GET A COPY OF IT OR GET IT CORRECTED. NEITHER DOES ANY OF MY MEDICAL PROVIDERS ALLOWED TO GET IT CORRECTED EITHER.
Then we need the law to allow criminal investigations of govt contractors. to take back the govt that has been overthrown by this international cabal.
MAYBE SENATOR HARKIN WILL LEAVE HIS LEGACY BY GETTING THESE TWO SIMPLE LAWS PASSED THAT ARE SO BASIC TO RIGHT OF LIFE AN LIVELIHOOD FOR ALL OF US.
It was in 1990 he got the ADA, American disabilities act passed after I went to him for help as my US Senator, then and the issues I was going through being dumped back into work with none of the promised reasonable accommodations done for me.
The I spoke to some on the Republican side. One was not very nice but others were professional in attitude and did take my name , phone number and e mail to get back to me.
I am still waring on most of all of them to do so from my last time I spent making the rounds of Congress in my unpaid lobbying effort to plead for my right to life that few understand is their right of life that has been lost in the last couple of decades in this nation.
WE HAVE GOT OUR SELVES SO ENSLAVED INTO THE MONEY MANAGED POLITICAL PROCESS AS TOO FEW OF US PARTICIPATE IN. But I would say, FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO VOTE HAS MADE SOME VERY NERVOUS THAT EVERY ONE MIGHT JUST SHOW UP AND VOTE THEIR DISPLEASURE AT WHAT IS GOING ON.
We could lose some good members of both parties in a back lash if it occurs.
One can only follow their conscience and common sense and do their best in choosing the candidate to vote for in each category. Its why they are not put in for life, and need to be reminded every few years when we vote to retain or fire them if they do not do the job we want them to do for US and for the USA.
95% voting in every election for 10 years and then see if those in office will not fully understand that we the people are the boss in the USA and in most place s in this world, now. where most have the vote, even in societies that more dictatorial entities have grabbed power.
In the USA, our govt has lost power to an international cabal they no longer even audit for what they do with them money we turn over to them and then its not used for the intended purpose..
I pray to YAHUSHA WHOM WE CHRISTIANS CALL CHRIST JESUS THAT a day will soon come when all will participate in the political process and become a positive influence on the outcome. WE ARE DIVERSE IN MANY WAYS AND ITS OUR DIVERSITY THAT ALLOWS ALL TO COME TOGETHER IN A FAMILY OF HUMANITY TO HAVE INPUT THAT CAN LEAD TO BEST SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS OF OUR LOCAL , STATE FEDERAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROBLEMS.
Wars will not end until those few who control by diving us into wars are told we don't want wars. We want the positive to occur. we want to be diverse, but care about each other and each have their Independence and FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
We do not want the few among us be allowed to harm members of society and need to learn how to prevent some to become so harmful. We have a whole universe to colonize and its time to use abilities and resources to expand not contract..
A WONDERFUL FUTURE IS AVAILABLE IF WE ONLY DECIDE TO WANT IT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN. FOR THOSE OF FAITH WE HAVE DIVINE HELP AND EVEN IF ONE DOES NOT HAVE SUCH, WE ALL NEED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE FAITH IN EACH OTHER AS MEMBERS OF HUMANITY THAT WE CAN DO THIS. IF WE JUST DO IT!
I PRAY THAT THE ONE PERSON I SPEAK TO TODAY DOES NOT PASS ON A GRAVE MISUNDERSTANDING OF WHAT I SAID. SHE TRIED TO DO THIS AND SEEMED TO WANT NAME ME AS A THREATENING PERSON TO HER AND I PLEADED WITH HER NOT TO DO THIS AS I WANTED HER TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE FOR IF SHE GETS IT I WILL HAVE IT TOO. AND RIGHT NOW WE ARE ALL SURROUNDED WITH GRAVE DANGERS WITH ALL THE SAFETY NETS PUT IN PLACE FOR PROTECTIONS OF ALL OF US HAVE BECOME OUT OF CONTROL THINGS HAVE GOTTEN THAT WERE PUT IN PLACE FOR ALL OF US TO BE SAFER AND HAVE BETTER HEALTH OUTCOMES.
When some want to misunderstand they will do so and its horrific and its stop any attempt to promote life, liberty and justice for all. CUT THROAT TACTICS MUST BE SO BAD IN WASHINGTON , DC THAT SOME HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND ONE LIKE ME THAT IS TRYING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US?
Its been awhile since I made my rounds of Congress and no one got back to me for faxes or calls and things got worse for us.ADDRESSING THE PROMBLEMS HAS TO BE DONE, BUT SOME DON;T SEEM TO WANT TO RECOGNIZE we have these problems. You were elected to do just that and if you do not want the job, then go home and allow someone else to try. and those who want to try work together and we all need to support those who do try. even if we do not agree with all their politics. With all working on the issues, consensus answers can be gained. BIG MONEY IS IN THE PROCESS BECAUSE WE THE PEOPLE ARE NOT THERE N BIG ENOUGH NUMBERS. We get what we vote for and if one does not vote, welcome to what you got. For the few who by conscience do not vote, pleas pray and think good thoughts for those of us who do.
I have voted absentee and mailed it and if one does not like the ones from the two main parties, there are others on the ballot to show we were present and not pleased with the main ones. I like doing this absentee as I took one afternoon and got online and read about each and every one, including judges to be retained. and marked my secret ballot we do not have to share how we voted. Very few are even addressing the concerns of the over throw of our govt yet, some are addressing privacy rights and overreach of govt and I thank them for even raising the issue. Under the US constitution, we choose form among us whom should be sent to represent us and we should not forget they are not gods or saviors and are only human as we are. We pray for the success of any one elected as their success is our success. And if they do not do the job, then we must find someone else to send in the next election.
I have no inside knowledge of who will win Tuesday in the elections. but pray its for the best for all of us.
