THIS IS A NON TRADITIONAL COURT FILING:
MUNICIPAL COURT
CITY OF SHERMAN, TEXAS
317 S Travis
Sherman, TX 75090
case #
We have now received three notices that a person who has never lived here, since 1997 when we moved here, and do not recall ever knowing has been sent notices to our home address in OK. This party is not the one we bought from either.
We have sent the first two back in the mail. We do not wish anyone with an arrest warrant associated with our address as we do not wish someone from law enforcement showing up here , when no such person is here..
I called to day to see if this person had an attorney. of record and was willing to notify that person to get matters taken care. of. I was told this was some sort of lowest class of misdemeanor or even a traffic citation. I was not told over the phone for sure.. And that a notation would be made, but we did that once before and two more notices were mailed. So we are filing a formal paper with the court to let you know, that this is not a good address for the party named and do not know where he is or who he really is so the court does not know where he is either. For all we know this party may be laying in a coma somewhere as a John Doe, although not statistically probable.
I also went on line and tried to bring up the case number and could not locate the case.
Few people seem to understand that any info associated with an address can be shared all over in computer systems today. And in no way is any one under our roof subject to any kind of criminal arrest, nor have we done anything to warrant such.
Plus, this person is in your records as being notified and not showing up to pay a fine or serve time, etc. and he has not been notified by mail to our address at all. And if he had a forwarding address from this ours to another, we would not have gotten this mail. So add to the 'disappeared.?
We appreciate your attention to this for our sake as well as to make sure its notated this party has not received their due process either..
We thank you for your service to the community and do understand that Sherman TX has had many homeless living in a 'tent city' and pray that somehow all of them can some day have a place to call home. maybe this party is one of them? We 'hear; that a number of petty crime charges are pending on some of them. I do know of one party that is trying to get a non profit status set up in order to get some grant money or donations to try and help those who have no place to call home. as there are some vacant buildings in the area that could be used.. But IRS is scrutinizing these requests to ferret out those who are using the status as a guise for political influence or would discriminate as to whom received help.. HOMELESSNESS IS BIPARTISAN. and those who follow Christ are not going to refuse help to any in need, but its too big an issue for one person to do alone. and those of other faiths or no faith would just be concerned about the basic human needs.
And money is spent due to homelessness in the USA and in Grayson County TX, that could better be used to solve the problem. ,You had to send out notices to someone who is missing from some place? and if they do not have the money to pay a fine, etc., may have to be housed at county expense for a time. when the same money might get them into a home and if special needs exist a place with a 'manager' on site that is more than a collector of rent. and fixer of minor repairs. the model is successful when implemented in the past, but budget cuts have eliminated much of these.. and we all pay in other ways such as this case, what ever it is.
I do not know if this is the case of the party named in the arrest warrant. but it is a major issue and our system is so broken in all areas today and the inertia to adapt to changes and " help others help themselves" is the only way we will not have these issues getting worse and not better. And moving on south in the winter and north in the summer does not solve homelessness and all the other issues that often got them in that situation in the first place especially when there may be special needs for some that must be addressed.
Again thanks for your courtesy in attending to this matter.
Sincerely,
Doyle and Linda Joy Adams, home owners
