IN MEMORIAM
Mr and Mrs Cardinal returned home to nest and lay their eggs (spotted) on Christmas Day. The last two years, they were here a couple of weeks early, but the weather had been warmer than usual and here they were. I had concern as the weather turned bitterly cold. Both seemd to have succombed to the weather. It appears it may have been the cold and not a cat, although one was partially eaten. Most of the birds that live here , n know to nest high enough to avoid cats and others that would like to eat them. Its the 'law of the jungle' ( or woods) and pray they use caution.
I'm not a scientist and can't affirm or deny Global warming,' over all weather patterns of the centurees or what is going on? But the extremes of weather we have had here over the last few years is very real. We live in the Lake Texoma area, and ther eis a natural vortex of the jet streams around the lakes which is visible on the weather maps. But we usually have a lessening of extremes which gets passed on to others after the storms move on towards the east.
Now our wild life can't seem to figure it out either...
This weekend , on the very day, the Moon sign was the best to plant our snow peas and other cool weather crops, it was warm enough to go outside, but the weather report was correctly predicting a drop to into the teens which is too cold, yet. Lost a planted crop some years ago, when We planted too early and it got that cold.
NEED TO GO GET SOME LAB WORK DONE, AND I PRAY IT WILL BE WARMER TOMORROW.
So, it may be February before the signs are right again My Dad always planted by the Moon and had good crops, and I learned to respect nature in that way.
PRESIDENT OBAMA BORN IN TOPEKA KANSAS
Got a robo call from Newt Gingrich's nonprofit and I then pressed the button and talked to a person. Newt was probay the most knowledgeable person running for President last time, BUT he left laws half passed and in a mess back in the 90's like the HIPPAA law not covering the govt ocntractoss and govt officials and other things opened the door to massive corruption with loss of our monies and lives. and health. AN IMPEACHMENT THAT WOULD NEVER GO ANY WHERE FOR REMOVAL FROM OFFICE OF PRES CLINTON SIDETRACKED EVERYONE FROM A LOT OF GGOD WORK GOING ON IN CONGRESS NOT GETTING COMPLETED which Cong Dan Burton's committees was doing, including to overhaul Federal workers compensation. a microcosm of over all problems and corruptions in the entire govt. They had my file as one where every weakeness in the law had been used against me and illustrated all the weaknesses in the system where Congress needed to pass laws and take actions. Since then its grown much , much worse... with the beginnings started then. All this ended and Congress Burton has been 'shoved' into obscurity since. He also was an advocate for issues against toxins and chemicals in our meds and food, etc so the Left lost an advocate for some of their issues; if not on all. We got into war and collapse of our economy and mnay lost lives as well as livelihoods.
I kind of 'preached' a bit to him. I said do not be fooled into thinkung the new Health care law is just about GUN RIGHTS being usurped. Its a tactic to polarize this nation, again as too often has been done in the past over abortion, etc..
We may not agree on some things in this nation, but we should not destroy ourselves totally becasue we don't solve other problems we disagree on. Solving the most, might help resolve those few?.
I hope the US Supreme Court will rule that the govt has no business involved in the private lives of the people and get govt out of the 'marriage business.' and resort to 'Next of Kin ' rights where every consenting adult can designate whomever that might be.
Religious and personal beliefs would then determine what consenting adults do in their private lives and homes/ We are not going to agree on whom has the right to get married and ths state would only be involved with rights of minors.
Even with children, existing laws can suffice for the most part. One starts with biology at birth and if there are n odispute as to whom is to raise the child, the govt can stay out of it. If its not biology that determines it, papers would need to be filed to indicate who is responsible for them.
Some states have passed amendments to the State constituions of one man and one woman as marriage and others have done the opposite.. If this isn'tt an impass what is? To me , this is different than laws based on race from our past, which were morally wrong. This is different that equal rights in other matters such as work, etc. where whom one is married to is almost always irrelevant to functioning as members of society otherwise. One can teach about different ways people live their lives without advocating one over another but too often that advocation gets pushed into the teaching. Its a fine line that crossing it only casues dissension.
Many of us have sincere beliefs and our faith book(s) and teachings do not condone certain n life styles asmany read them. Its why our founders had Freedom of speech and freedom of religion as the First Amendment to the US Constitiution. We will be in chaotic dissension if those rights are not allowed in a manner that respects each other's right to choose a path directly to Hell if that be ones belief. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TOBE WRONG.
If one looKs at others commiting 'sins' one is too often seeing a reflection of what society in total has caused to occur. Casting stones means one is themselves 'sinless' and humans are prone to err and do so in many ways. Society only outlaws a few of the worse as we take one path or another as we live our lives.
We cannot lose our humanity in all of this as all of us are the 'Human fmaily.' This was brought full center for me a couple of decades ago, when a man died and churches in the area, including the one of his family would not conduct a funeral for him and he had loved ones and family who were mourning his loss. Our church conducted the funeral and the grief was the same just as for any other. His life partner had attended some of our services although uor chruch does not perform nor recognize same sex marriages. ALL who wish to worship, may do so.
The sermon gave it all over to the Almighty to care for the one who had died. And some had things to say, which indicated a life of worth was lived. There is a Divine judge over all and who is to say who will be there in Heaven and with us in our eternal lives as we are promised to have only if we believe for those who are of the Christian faith. In our emerging adulthood of Humanity we are struggling with some very personal matters that reflect what we do as a society.. We should not split our nation in two over them.
We must find some way to be able to keep our faith(s) and still function as a nation. In this one area, I am more Libertarian and agree govt needs to get out of the marriage business, but recognize "Next of Kin" rights, instead. This is already law, under the HIPPAA law for medical purposes where one can designate whomever they choose to have access as a patient. One more thing we could have in the bar code on our Driver's license and state ID'S in case of emergency.
Next of Kin originally was the issue many hospitals and local govts were wanting to have. I have known of horrendous situations caused and still are being caused over that not being addressed.
One case I was aware of: A man died and the only family he really had was a step daughter he had raised but never formally adopted.. She could not get his body released for burial until authorities searched the nation and world for a blood relative whom he had never had much contact with, to say it was OK for her to take charge of the body. Even worse, their faith expected a quick burial. Ones faith is a real support in times of great distress and following the 'rituals and beliefs often seem more important to 'do things right and best'.. is a comfort. Its part of that inalienable right of happiness' to be allowed to have comfort of ones faith..
Another case:A loved one got a call from county authorites many states away, a few years ago, asking if a body of a distant cousin could be relesed to the 'common law' wife of many years , in a state that did not reocgnize her as legally on the list to take charge of the body and the OK was given. A distant relative who had only seen the deceased once in her life and decdades ago. She had a hard time understanding why she was called. And was concerned she would be liable for funeral expenses, which the authorities said was not an issue.
This would also involve inheritance rights etc if one dies with out a will.. At Social Security we go by state laws as to who can receive any monies owed the deceased on a claim. The lists are not the same in all states.
And so often, folks are creating their own families of all sorts and these 'lists' don't seem very relevant in too many cases. Authorities and medical personnel struggle trying to obey existing laws. NOT EVERYONE gets their 'paperwork' in order as soon as they turn 18, do they?
Gay rights over whelmed the whole issue and became the only issue and t isn't the total that needs resolved. If one comes to an ER unconscious, one is not going to be able to sign a HIPPAA request.
So don't get polarized that the only issue this years for the 2014 elections is 'Gun Right as its one small part of losing all our rights under the 'social engineering' in the Health care law that has nothing to do with medical care at all.
Same with 'common core ' of what should be tuaght our children in schools. Yes, reading, writing, math, should all be learned as commen for all; but others have agendas they ae trying to impose and interject into the teachings. There is a reason states and lcoal govts have the rights to take take of education under the US Constituion. Its something much more personal involving the teaching of our children in our communities. only restrictions should be something is not being taught which is a crime, etc.
But as for Next of Kin Rights issue: I have been in ER's and hospitals many times early on after injured back on 1/10/89 and heard nurses and staff trying to find who could speak for a patient who was dying to know if they should sustain life or let them die. Other patients have laid in pain without surgeries waiting for someone to have legal authority to say OK to operate from one on the list ones state says has the legal right to say.
Any who have had experience with hospitals and patients in recent decades, knows that once a patient is given a narcotic pain killer, they are not going to be able to sign for surgery themselves. I've received a call for a loved one with a broken bone and was able to speak to the patient wwho was perfectly coherent, but:....
WE HAVE A LOT TO GET DONE for all of us to have our individual rights and society can function for all of us, as well. We have to GET SMARTER and it takes all of us to figure this all out. We are not going to agree, but we are humans created to care for one another even if we don't agree or even like each other very well.
