Daily Recap 10/4/12: World Comes To Topeka Ks: President Obama Born In Topeka Ks:
I'm really not feeling very well. Sinuses are really inflamed and bleeding. what happened? seems to be the cough drops I found on the table in the living room that Doyle had gotten for himself. walmart used to carry a brand of lozenges, cough drops brand that had glucose in thems and if my sugar would get low I could use one of them as much cheaper than those more medically specific glucose lozenges. the label didn't; indicate anything that would be inflaming. But the FDA doesn't care about the chemically sensitive and discriminates against us and labels are becoming very unhelpful and false. These all had some eucalyptus. which means the scent was gong to waft through the whole upper resperatory system A couple of thees and I was in severe trouble. at least I threw up when it reached my stomach or that may have caused inflamation all the way through. I really don't know of anyting else eaten and nothing new to breathe that could have caused this.All. I could do is use steam from purfed water. and finally slept some with heat pad. when this happens I can't tolerate the cold liquid oxygen and lay a heat pad with a time control on it to warm it up before breathing it. I had so many things to do to day and nothing got done. Didn't think I would even feel well enough to write much. I know of no more severe pain than this kind of head pain. Its like cold ice cream that is there continuously. and never goes away. also, to often this kind of bleeding and inflammation leads to bacterial infections in the sinuses. The surgeon that put in 'windows' for drainage hole in my sinuses except for the one that had miraculously had one grown bone over and sealed shut said that this was the worse damage than he had seen in 25 years of practice and he is one of the leading sinus surgeons in he area and has national acclaim. Due to intentional obstruction form fed Blues and OWCP , etc. and the horrific treatment and trickery done with office manager , I do not have him or any one else to go to at this time. there is no way to say its not work related. It doesn't take much to cause tremendous medical problems and there are those that think we don't need regulations and in the case of FDA, Congress is not doing there oversight jobs at all .Its not a party thing , their disregard is a big money in control thing.Maybe, if one is to run for Congress or any elected office tha\ey should pass a few test questions of : Do you have the courage to stand up to the pressure of big money and not be corrupted.I'm in pain and you let me down, big time, I thought I could read a label that was truthful. And why can't a company with a good, inexpensive prodect be forced off the counter at walmart? if that is what has occurred?
Mail came and 9/20/11 bill as at lung doctor got paid the copays by Fed Blues. late do to the intentional messing with computet\r by them. Of course the doctor was cheated by the illegal altering of the official records and Medicare is primary payer for Workers comp in this country and congress has given he blessing and cuts benefits for every one else as our bills get dumped on them and no law has been passed to force collection form the US Dept of Labor or their contractor Affiliited computer services that has taken full control of the lives of each federal worker that gets injured. This is an overpayment to mediare and I have no way to collect the money as judges orders have been defed andh aving an atttoreny is not helpful. patient is liable to medciare and SSA refuses to implent the wiavers they promised to process in 2005. Don't let any one say get an atty . They can't arrest any one or go in and take the money out of the bank account of another federal agency or contractor either. They have no more power than the individual patient They just know the law and how to put a case together better than most. When one wins, the decision is disregarded. no criminal penalties. And the Jack abramoff bribery scandals investigations into the missing milion's for owcp has not yet been competed. as no whistle blower protection for someone inside to turn in their boss, or divulge some internal documents that is diffiuclt to find and then there are those illegal proprietary agreements among contractors and private companies that override all laws, constitution, judges orders and human decency.
PRESIDENT OBAMA BORN IN TOPEKA KS: One would not think that a small city in north East Kansas in the 50's and 60's would be a cross road of diversity from the world community. Topeka, Kansas at the time had the titile, not of Capital of Kansas; but the Psychiatric Capital of the World. The Menninger Clinic drew patients from all the wealthy and elite of the world. Illness of any kind seems to affect all peoples. It was not unusual to see someone famous on the streets of the city. Residents did not create any media circus. But leaks of info would find itself into various media outlets of the world. Often citizens would learn who was in town or had been there form that source. Paris Match broke the story of movie star, Gene Tierney as working in a dress shop just a few blocks from where I grew up.as part of her treatment plan to assimilate her back into society. Medicine did not have the variety of psycho tropic drugs as they do now, so more with a mental illness might find the need for longer time treatment. And few hospitals or even clinics existed as there does to day in most communities beyond just wharehousing the ill.. Almost every county in the USA has a county clinic now. But, now, the major problem is narcotics and illegal drugs that people too often get hooked on and treatment seems too often illusive for those addicted to them. Often, a patient today is needing treatment for both diseases and when it happens to a movie star or famous person the media turns the tragedy of their life into a media circus.
In the area of the city where the President's mother and I went to school is where many either lived or worked at the vairous mental clincs and hospitals in the city. Many came and lived to recieve out patient care. At one time there was 5 major mental health hospitals there. The study of human behavior was a specialty. As I look back , I realize that many of the various standardized tests we were asked to take had little to do with basic skills, they were all kinds of tests about interests, aptitudes, I even remember one was very personal that all of us were asked to take that death with our personal lives.including a question: Have you ever been kissed? (referring to a person of the opposite sex.) and given to high schoolers That one was supposedly done with no identifying personal info on them. I early on learned how a test or questionnaire could be skewed. When we were first given an interest test back in HS, it was not helpful to me. Why? because it was interpreted two ways. Although the interests categories have held to be very valid, for me. Writing and social came out highest, way high; our counselors had separate lists of possible careers that might make use of these interests. One for girls and one for boys. All the careers that one might consider making the best use of those interests were in the boys list. In those years, girls still went to college for an MRS. degree. often they were only expected to attend about a year, find a husband , drop out and then work and put their husband through school. Of course divorce was still rare, and the investment of time and work was expected to be a life time investment as the husband could better support the family and the woman be able to stay home and raise the family. That began to change and women would find themselves divorced not long after the husband's degree had been achieved. Literature and movies and TV shows were beginning to be filled with those kinds of stories. We had musical aptitude tests. The one person I knew that achieved a 100% on it had perfect pitch and her gift was discovered as a result I made a 99%, because I only had relative pitch. Someone has to give me that perfect A tone and then I could relate to that to find the tone needed. None of these tests were ever used for grading purposes. Not even the basic skills tests. and the ' test was not taught.' teachers salaries and jobs did not count on the scores.(not aware of it were) I never remember any reports ever were published as to how one school did on these tests. More important was whether basic educational requirements of each grade were being met. Could one do the math, read at the grade level, or have learned what was in the curriculum for the grade or subject. As I mentioned in earlier posts,. Extra credit was fostered, at Topeka HS. One coud get 100% on All tests but only receive a "C" in the class as extra credit was required before a "B " or "A" could be received. That would be an approved book report, oral speech presentation, extra writing, science project, etc. Homework was a given . Those without home support found it more diffiuclt as one needed to have library access, and if one had to work less time to do the work. So economics of the family did have a bearing. One would be taking 5or 6 classes and each would be requiring special credit every 6 weeks grading period. Also, if one was taking courses in the fine arts area your "A's" didn't count as much when it was decided if you were graduating with honors or highest honors. Even though one may be doing lots of extra study and time with private lessons, etc. One could have the same grades but one graduate with highest honors and the other with honors. I know,it happened to me. But its just the way it was. Part of all those test results steered me to thinking my only choices were secretary , teacher or nurse. I empathize with the sick, but its not my thing.I thank those who have cared for me when ill and needed medical care, but I its not my interest. To work in an office and do only the most menial clerical work, not my thing either. Yet it became my career in the govt but not in the more clerical area. Something that wasn't explained to me by all those lists for girls and boys. and I did n't have the general knowledge of careers and neither was any one else unless they had friends or relatives in those careers. Teaching seesed the only option , yet on my interest tests, it was only a mediocre choice. So although not my prime interest I had decided to try for a career as a HS music teacher. At leat the subject matter would be something I had learned to love. And I got a scholarship to K State and went with that goal in mind. Ended up taking a course in Bible litierature and enjoyed that more than music theory. Times were changing. These are the times just before girls and women were starting to break the glass ceiling of even what thy were going to study. Tomorrow: NASA. 10/4/12
