Daily recap 10/28/12: Cattle Dynasty: President Obama Born In Topeka Ks
Rather cool day, but pleasant here. Washington,DC shut down for probably two days. No use to try and call to follow up on  anything. Feeling a little better after a month of severe inflammation and bleeding and antibiotics, etc.  There is little processed food one buys that one can trust the labels to not be hiding formaldehyde in some obscure language  to hide it. Many products break down into it in the system, etc.
And Ralph Roush refuses to allow any civil right complaints to be read and answered , let anyone investigate for over 4 years, so the three million of us that are considered to have some kind of chemical sensitivity like my occupational asthma and chemically induced pneumonitis.Pretty soon all the minority groups that are 'left out' may be a majority. maybe then the tide will turn and everyone can be treated with dignity and equality in this world.
PRESIDENT OBAMA BORN IN TOPEKA KS;
Rev Tracy Hardy is the great great Uncle of Preesident Obama. Its due to him that the president's last name is Obama as he is the one that had Mom present marriage proposal to Ann. Some have criticized him for doing this. But I don;t think he knew of other wives in Kenya.  There was a since of desparation and a lot of fear over the circumstances at the time. My parents had been brought into the situation and did the best they could while sitll protecting me from any effect or retalaition.  In hind sight, there was. But onlyy from some, but theese were the ones that took gossip into murder and one wonders where they are and how much harm has been done over the years by them or to us.
Dad would never have done anything to intentionally do any harm, is my sincere estimation of  what occurred. maybe he was hoping that more would come of it. His background had been such that many marriages were arranged and ddi work out.
Once the dicision was made that the baby was to be kept, then plans were made to make sure there was a marraige certificate. An American Black man  was not a good option with no expectation of anything more than an arrangement so each cold have cover of law. He to stay in USA and her a marriage certificate.
I still don't know for sure how Dad met Obama Sr, maybe some one else does know. He just came home one day and said there was this man that wanted to stay in USA.  Some sources say Obama Sr knew Ann's father through  mitlitary work . If so there must have been more contacts between the two  I would not have been aware. of . The only phone was in our home and Dad worked during the day when I was  in school and Mom knew nothing of it ahead of time. It was one of those things that just 'happenend.'?
Dad basically had two jobs, campus security and in charge of the Golf course at Washburn University and farming. By the time I was in Topeka HS,he' bought pasture land and sold the working farm, but he did have a small herd and a horse just outside of Topeka, KS
He had a small herd of Milking Shorthorns. A breed that is not that well known, but Dad made two attempts to sire his own Bull and create a 'dynasty.'The first attempt did not work out so well. The cattle were OK but he sold  all off and started over. while at Dover farm. Then he started over.
This time he kept a bull calf called Bonnie Lad and added a part of his name to call him Racy's Bonnie Lad. Milking Shorthorna are large cattle. They are a good choice for small farmers as produce meat and milk. The milk is very unusual. when the cream rises to the top it is very thick. One could skim it off and Mom even took a jar and shook it to make butter. Usually she put the cream in her Mixmaster and churned it. I'd remembered in McPherson that she had the old creamer and remember it being used as Dad had had purebred Hereferds on our ranch at Matfield Greene. That cream took longer working the paddles.
Mom sold the cream to an ice cream factory. When we moved to Manhattan , Ks, he sold off the small herd he had left.
Years later, I was at the Iowa State Fair, saw a blue ribbon on the pen of a Racy's Milking short horn.  And online have seen that line continued.  Racy's Bonnie Lad had and sired a dynasty of fine cattle.
Dad taught me a lot about what good conformation of cattle are and how to judge them.He also paid attention to temperament. Bonnie Lad was a Bull but rather tame and never was mean. Dad always said to just tap him wih a leather pole a lttle on the rump to herd him while on horseback and not to get between him and the cows. I never had any problmes with him when herding the cows into the ban for milking. Since Dad had a day job, the cows had to get milked on human time rather than by the rotation of the earth and seasons. Daylight Savings Time was a lttle confusing to the cows and required them to be woke up and herded at times not 'natural' to them.
Ishould have helped out more, nut was never asked to help when I had school work or activities. He had a blief that women should not work in the fields. He really didn't think twomen should do field work.  I always wanted to help and enjoyed the aram and the animals and growing things. Nothing like putting a seed in the ground and it growing into something one can eat.  TOMORROW: OIL? Linda Joy Adams 10/28/12
